Being Smart With Your Money

I like listening to podcasts because I get little pieces that can help me with my business.

Recently we have really been adjusting our schedule and focusing on expanding time through scheduling time in slots.

We have also been working in Asana, where you can schedule and create projects, it’s free.

I feel like we have been focused on the “A” activity.

A activity is what makes you money right away when you do it, for instance if you are in sales A activity is knocking on peoples doors.

What happens is it’s very easy to get wrapped up in the A activity and not work on the B and the C activity, which is more passive, it’s not going to make you money right now.

An example is managing and keeping up with your quickbooks, it’s not going to make you money but it’s going to keep you organized and overall it’s best for your business.

We have been expanding our time so the A activity is in slots.

I am extremely competitive and have a bad attitude about it. I want to be number one and I want to win.

You need to set bigger goals, instead of saying you want to save $200, which is really realistic, if you say you want to save $500, then you are under this pressure and you work harder to meet that goal.

You will hit the $200 easily and probably some extra as well.

I have big goals, but I am realistic too. I get really motivated by my competition.

The bad thing about that is it’s really stressful, and I’ll get in a bad mood if they are catching up.

The cool thing about what I’m doing with this scheduling, is I’m kind of pulling that mentality out.

I am not checking the day-to-day sales and I am just getting my tasks done on the weekends, and scheduling them to go out during the week, so I can focus on other things.

Making money directly is very important to me, however, if there is a way to schedule it in a way to save more time or save some money, then it’s important to do that.

Investing in your time is also investing into your business.

What’s important is what coming out of your business has to go back in.

The thing about investing in your business is its money back.

Be willing to take a loss.

What comes in must also come out, this applies to your personal accounts too.

If the money is sitting in your account you are going to spend it one way or another. 

You should pay yourself 10%, pay all of your bills, then the leftover should be invested. 

Whether that is in stocks, real estate, or anything you want to invest in, start saving up for that or investing that extra money.

You don’t want a huge savings, your money will lose its value because of inflation.

Businesses are no longer taking cash in some places.

You can go buy silver coins, it’s like a stock, but you can hold it, and the silver will grow in value, where the dollar will fall.

For the past 3 years we have been full time on Etsy.

You have to realize that at every level you are going to feel like “man, this is the most money I’ve ever made,” but you need to have something to show for it.

That year our Christmas was huge, and we went to Target all the time.

If I would have bought Apple back then, or other stocks, then I would have a lot more.

Don’t beat yourself up for not starting earlier, just start now.
